Education and Training

Dr Robinson was a full scholar at Dulwich College and was the awarded an exhibition by St. John’s College to study medical sciences at Cambridge University. Following this he completed his clinical studies training at St Thomas' Hospital, London before graduating from Cambridge University in 1987.

He was appointed cardiology registrar at King's College Hospital and then senior registrar and clinical lecturer at St Bartholomew's and the London Chest Hospitals. This role exposed Dr Robinson to a high volume of angiography, coronary angioplasty and stent insertion.

In 1990 Dr Robinson became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) and subsequently a Fellow in 2007.

Dr Robinson undertook a period of research when he was awarded a British Heart Foundation Research Fellowship in 1994. He rapidly completed postgraduate MD thesis from Cambridge University for his research into heart disease awarded in 1996.

Dr Robinson has also been the author of many peer reviewed papers in basic science and clinical cardiology. He has undertaken wide ranging clinical research and been widely published on the use of stents for the treatment of coronary disease.

Dr Robinson was appointed a Consultant at Colchester, St Bartholomew’s Hospital and the London Chest Hospitals before helping to develop the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre. When the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre opened in 2007 he developed his stenting and revascularisation practice there.
